In the initial step of subroutine development, input from the mentor is an important thing. The main objective of this activity is to share and enrich the information about strategy in material subroutine development based on experience of mentor and research condition in ITB.
Some important and valuable information and materials about the material subroutine have been shared by the mentor.
Adapting and implementing the material subroutine from MIT mentor into research case in ITB is not in an easy way. Systematic research work should be designed so that the goal of this research to develop the constitutive model of material that can be implemented in structural FEM will be successfully achieved. Integration of some fields like continuum mechanics, plasticity, materials, and computational must be conducted in the effective way.
Mastery and enrichment of related materials such as fundamental of plasticity, computational mechanics, and materials are systematically conducted. Development of constitutive model is started from the simple loading and gradually increased into more complex condition. In line with the theoretical development, numerical model and experiments are also prepared so that a comprehensive results will be achieved at the end of this research.
Development of material constitutive model is a complex topic which related to many fields, strating from mechanics of materials, plasticity, computation, experiment, and deeply understanding in mathematics. Guidance and information from the expereienced mentor will be significantly helped to direct this research. Systematic activity is really needed in research so that the goals of it can be achieved comprehensively.
Making the detail research plan to develop material constitutive model considering the effect of grain direction and strain rates. In the first stage, grain direction effect will be the focus. Literature review related to this problem will be conducted to increase the understanding. The information and materials from mentor will be the reference in this research. Numerical simulation is conducted using VUMAT Abaqus that linked to fortran and visual studio. By this way, some initial cases can be simulated to see the effect of every parameters.
