Numerical simulation in ultra high strain rate, non-linear, and large deformation of aluminum foam sandwich (AFS) contruction for aero-engine protection. How to model steel and aluminum foam in high strain rate? How failure criteria works in in large deformation?
Using of modified Johnson-Cook material model for high strain rate steel loading. Evaluate Deshpande-Fleck foam, Crushable foam, and low density foam material model to model aluminum foam.
Modified Johnson-Cook material model can capture fracture using Cockroft-Latham failure criteria. Crushable foam gives best energy balance and validated simulation model. For Deshpande-Fleck foam, still gives error energy balance and error deformation mode. For Low Density foam, can become alternative for aluminum foam modelling with fair result.
