I presented a paper about the correlation between bull performance (body weight and scrotal circumference) and sperm quantity (semen volume and sperm concentration) of Bali bulls in Baturiti Artificial Insemination Center, Bali. Bali cattle are Indonesian native breeds that have alot of potential as a meat producer. They do not only have a good ability to adapt in various type of feed and environment, but also have a good reproductive efficiency. Bali province was choosen as the center of Bali cattle breeding program conducted through artificial insemination using frozen semen from Baturiti artificial insemination center. According to this situation, the quality of Bali bulls maintained in Baturiti artificial insemination center should be controlled by the evaluation of semen production. Body weight and scrotal circumference was used to estimate the semen production in various bulls. My paper was grouped in subtheme " Animal Reproduction and Breeding" and was presented in the day 2 at session 7.
I won the Best Presenter and Young Scientist Award from the 4th APIS conference. I presented a paper about the evaluation the percentage of first service conception rate of of the Friesian Holstein bulls using ISIKHNAS data of West Java year 2017 until 2018. impacts of the differential fertility rate of among the bulls whether in Lembang or Singosari Artificial Insemination Center on the succesfull of artificial insemination and the high percentage of FH cattle conception at West Java Province. Fertility is the most important thing on breeding cattle to meet the need the beef or milk consumption. in decade, The dairy cattle population seems to be reduced significantly about 1. 14% per year. The AI technology is the one solution method to increase the dairy cattle population. So the fertility of the bulls become the issue beside the fertility of the cow. it said so, because the semen from one bull can fertilize thousands of cow. Classification of Bulls fertility rate is the first step to know the fertility influence factors further. There were 17 candidate of the young scientist that have been registered. The participant that registered as the oral presenter is about 147 participants from all around university, company in Indonesia and abroad. My paper provides a new perspective for further analysis of the semen evaluation through proteomic and genomic analysis. So, it can be the more accurate method to define the semen quality that strongly correlate with the bill fertility and the succesfull of AI which os determined by the high percentage of the conception rate. In the conference, I had a long discussion with the moderator who is the Dean of animal science faculty, Brawijaya university, all the participants on animal breeding research.
